So Medoh... Why do All of This? (Aka my mini manifesto)

Good question, wayward internet traveler. I shall tell you...

I'M SO TIRED MAN!

I hate how social media is nowadays. Everytime I open Tiktok or Instagram or [deity of choice here] forbid Twitter I feel worse than before I opened it.

It's a non stop barage of "The world is fucked." "The world is fucked." "AI Slop." "The world is fucked." "Comfort Character! Finally some respite! Oh wait no, the next post is basically 'I hate aforementioned comfort character!' and oh would you look at that AI slop again." and so on until I'm .2mm away from a full on breakdown. It is far too much for my possibly neurodivergent brain to process. And in fact, I have had a breakdown over it! Yay!!

Not to mention with GenAI on a very distressing rise and the censorship of certain topics and people (ahem, Tumblr going after trans people, anyone?) taking over mainstream networks I decided that enough was enough. I wanted to reclaim the joy and wonder I had as a child of exploring the web. I wanted more than just sorrow and misery and stress. Of course it is important to talk about certain topics, and I always strive for advocacy, but there has to be balance.

I've wanted a website for a long time. Somewhere to express myself when I can't in real life. I have a computer science background (lifelong interest, took it for Leaving Cert etc) but never had any motivation to actually make this place a reality. But I'm here now, out of the passion Web 3.0 almost took from me, love for the web I so dearly miss, and a complete hatred for most big tech companies. This website is definitely not a paragon for revolution or anything, nor do I see myself as some big revolutionary (I am just some gender neutral guy on the internet), but then again, I have always been a contrarian.

I may be younger than some on here. But that's ok. I know just how good the web can be. And I think it's about time we take it back.
